HOSTA - THE FLOWERING FOLIAGE PLANT

The hosta is the best selling perennial plant in America and this talk covers all aspects of hosta growing, their origins, cultivation tips, breeding and pest control and will introduce some of the newer hosta varieties.


Between 12 noon and 1pm - Mike will be with the Wayside Garden Center collection of retail hostas giving practical advice, growing tips and recommendations.  You will also have an opportunity to meet members of the Genesee Valley Hosta Society and the American Hosta Society.

 

2PM   45 minutes to an hour plus questions.

LITTLE TREASURES - AN INTRODUCTION TO MINI HOSTAS

Gardens are getting smaller and the time available to care for them is getting less.  One solution is to grow little plants in smaller spaces.  This talk with introduce the mini hostas, of which there are now dozens and dozens, their special needs, how to get the best from them and what other plants look good with them.

Some aspects of hosta care and maintenance will be repeated in both talks.
